You may have noticed some changes to small roundabouts in your area. Council is rolling out changes to all single-lane roundabouts across the city to improve safety for all road users. A majority of these works are funded through the Queensland Government’s Blackspot program. The key changes are when approaching a single lane roundabout, cyclists are encouraged to take the lane (off road) therefore making them more visible to motorists and reduce the risk of accidents. Drivers and cyclists are governed by the same road laws. When lines of traffic merge, including cycle lanes, users must give way to any vehicle ahead of them. At these roundabouts cyclists are allowed to travel in the main traffic lane, and exit the roundabout into the dedicated cycle lanes. At the same time, cyclists need to acknowledge vehicle speeds and ride so as not to unnecessarily delay drivers. Roundabouts that have already been treated are: β€’ Gatton St / Severin St; β€’ Lake St / Upward St; β€’ Lake St / McKenzie St; β€’ Martyn St / Grove St; β€’ Scott St / Buchan St; β€’ Woodward St / Pease St / Collins Ave; β€’ Ramsey Dr / McGregor St / Irene St; β€’ Discovery Dr / Parkinson Ave / Sandalwood Ave; β€’ Discovery Dr / Moore Rd; β€’ Paradise Palms Dr / Reed Dr / Boulevard North; β€’ Paradise Palms Dr / Paradise Palms Resort Entrance; β€’ Paradise Palms Dr / Paradise Palms Dr. Roundabouts to be changed this financial year are: β€’ Ramsey Drive / Sailfish Close / Teraglin Street intersection; β€’ Gatton St / Brown St intersection; β€’ Kowinka St / Skull Rd intersection; β€’ Martyn St / Gatton St intersection; β€’ Martyn St / Upward St intersection; β€’ Lennon St / Tills St / English Street intersection; β€’ Des Chalmers Dr / Charlotte Cl

Good morning Go Clubs, A Positive FYI regarding Lease Tenures for Not For Profit Groups (NFP): Council recently made a decision to cease increasing lease rental for all Not For Profit Groups. This means that Council will no longer be applying an annual rental increase to lease arrangements with NFP's in the future. The rent figure which appears on your next invoice (your current annual rental) will remain the same annual figure for the balance of your term. This positive change for your association will give you the certainty of a fixed rent for the balance of your arrangement. Your organisation does not need to do anything other than continue to pay your fixed annual rent.
