Activity delivery

The main purpose of your organisation is to deliver the community, cultural, sport or recreation activity for which it was created. In addition to thinking critically about how your club tackles other aspects of organisation management, it is important to also adopt a strategic approach to the way your activities are delivered.

Considerations include:

  • Provide come-and-try opportunities so that potential new members can try your activities without the need for a commitment
  • Create club participation opportunities to address membership needs, trends, and diverse community needs including cultural, gender and age diversity, and changing leisure preferences, such as ‘pay, play, away,’ and ‘social’ participation opportunities
  • Offer education, training and development opportunities for participants, coaches, officials, instructors and other volunteers to enhance the quality of activity delivery
  • Ensure your activities fit within the parameters set by your peak bodies (where relevant) and consider how this might limit or direct the participation opportunities you are able to provide.
